About The Role

MWH Treatment is looking to strengthen our Planning team with a Planning Manager / Lead Planner for our Anglian water region on the Cambridge relocation project. Based in the Peterborough & Cambridge area, whilst leading and developing a team towards planning excellence, you’ll ensure the project plan and programme are kept on track with any mitigating circumstances successfully overcome.  By using your knowledge and expertise in planning, you’ll build the trust and confidence of key stakeholder by delivering project updates backed up by value- added data which can contribute to delivery improvements as we progress

The Project

The Cambridge relocation project is the design & build of a modern, low carbon waste water treatment plant to provide vital services for the community and environment which will recycle water and nutrients, produce green energy and help Greater Cambridge to grow sustainably.

Known as the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) Relocation Project, Anglian Water will work with our partners, including ourselves MMB & Skanska to help deliver this fantastic opportunity for the Greater Cambridgeshire area. The relocation would make the site of the existing WWTP available to form part of the development of a new low-carbon city district, known as North East Cambridge. The site at Cowley Road, is Cambridge’s last major brownfield site, and the wider North East Cambridge district proposals envisage creating around 8,350 homes and 15,000 jobs over the next 20 years.

Key responsibilities in the role will include:

  • Preparation and monitoring of plans: Lead and manage the programme development and delivery for Cambridge Relocation Project that considers all constraints and addresses risk including DCO constraints and all ES commitments.
  • Programme Development: Lead the development of the project plan and programme.  The plan should consider all constraints and resource requirements leading to the development of a project programme that covers all time dependant activities from design through to handover.
  • Strategic Planning: Interrogate the programme and identify areas for improvements, increased productivity, risk reduction, minimise carbon, and potential issues across the whole project.  Use this detailed understanding of the programme to deliver strategic planning decisions.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure that the project plan allows delivery of excellent health and safety performance and all activity aligns with our mantra of ‘Nothing is so important that we cannot take the time to do it safely’
  • Communication and quality of plans: Develop the resource planning against the project and programme needs ensuring the critical path and key activities are detailed to the team and key stakeholders through data and reports as required.
  • Collaboration/ Stakeholder management:  Form collaborative relationships with the project key stakeholders and others within the programme, and balance the competing tensions of time, cost and quality to successfully deliver outcomes.
  • People/ team development: Create an environment where the team are supported, yet challenged, to develop themselves and the team capabilities to deliver an industry- leading planning facility.
