About The Role

We are looking to strengthen our SHEQ team with a Sustainability Advisor based at Hattersley with hybrid working available. 

Purpose of Role:

  • Supporting the Head of Sustainability and Environment in the continual improvement of organisation with respect to sustainability and responsible business, including progress towards achieving operational and supply chain Net Zero Carbon and improving business social value.
  • To promote sustainability through the production of communications, training, documentation and support materials with delivery of briefings and training; and attendance at meetings to share progress and communicate sustainability and responsible business.
 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing time appropriately to allow hybrid working (mainly between offices, home and construction site visits)
  • Providing support to the Head of Sustainability and Environment, particularly with regards to strategic development and the supporting required actions
  • Collating and analysing of environmental and sustainability data to support internal and external reporting (including the MWHT Sustainability Dashboard and compliance with the Global Reporting Initiative)
  • Managing the collation of environmental data and the calculation of the company carbon footprint (including non-mandatory Scope 3 emissions)
  • Produce and organise sustainability and responsible business-related training material for employees and our supply chain
  • Working on projects across MWHT regions, including supporting the production of Project Sustainability and Social Value Plans and developing case studies
  • Identifying environmental benefits, best practice and carbon savings from design and construction projects
  • Promotion / communication / workshops on sustainability internally and to our clients and the supply chain; including production of case studies and reports
  • Completion and support on client related sustainability and carbon workbooks and calculators
  • Analysing current and future sustainability trends or requirements relevant to the business and assist in identifying solutions to ensure continual improvement
  • To support the partnership with Supply Chain Sustainability School and assist in embedding within MWHT and adoption by the supply chain, including use of the Action Sustainability carbon tool
  • Requesting and handling of relevant data (predominantly carbon related) from the supply chain
  • Working alongside the MWHT STEM Ambassadors to promote environmental and sustainability education
  • Represent and promote the SHEQ (Environmental) Department in meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums.

About You

Essential
  • Diploma or above qualification in an environmental or sustainability-based subject
  • Strong written and verbal communication and negotiating skills.
  • Moderate IT skills with proficiency in use of excel based systems
  • Effective time and workload management
  • Flexible approach to working environment
  • Ability to define goals and plan to deliver them
 
Desirable
  • Full driving licence
