MWH have now been
awarded Projects at Dukinfield, Aston-Under-Lyne, Arnfield, Godley, Hyde and
Wigan and Skelmersdale across the AMP8 Framework Agreement with United
Utilities. We are looking to strengthen our Construction and Project
delivery teams with Section Engineers assigned to a project or section within
our programme of work.
Reporting to the Agent
or Sub-Agent, you will be part of the Site Engineering team, leading the
engineering delivery on large scale water infrastructure projects. The Senior
Civil Site Engineer provides technical leadership, ensures safe and efficient
delivery on site, manages engineering teams, and takes full accountability for
setting out, quality assurance, temporary works supervision, and engineering
compliance. You will act as the key interface between design, construction, and
the supply chain, ensuring works are delivered to specification, programme,
cost, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Delivery & Technical Control
- Lead the full site engineering
function, including setting out, dimensional control, verification, and
survey activities.
- Manage engineering teams
(Project Engineers, Site Engineers, Graduates) to ensure accurate
execution of works.
- Ensure primary control is
validated; resolve discrepancies in design information and site
conditions.
- Oversee installation activities
to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, tolerances, and
standards.
- Maintain and manage
survey/setting‑out
equipment including calibration and testing regimes.
- Produce technical sketches,
calculations, and engineering records to support construction activities.
- Ensure drawing registers and
technical documentation are controlled, up‑to‑date,
and properly issued.
Quality & Technical Assurance
- Implement Inspection & Test
Plans (ITPs), quality procedures, and technical assurance requirements.
- Ensure ITP's, check sheets, and
quality records are fully completed and stored correctly in a timely
manner.
- Lead production of accurate as‑built surveys, red‑line drawings, and handover
documentation.
- Conduct quality inspections,
close out NCRs, and drive a “right‑first‑time” approach.
- Support Technical Assurance
reviews, ensuring design compliance and correct installation.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Champion a proactive safety
culture across engineering and delivery teams.
- Prepare, brief, and implement
Safe Systems of Work including RAMS and Permits to Work.
- Carry out routine safety
inspections, audits, and behavioural conversations.
- Support or act as Temporary
Works Coordinator, ensuring compliance with procedures.
- Promote environmental
protection measures and ensure works are carried out sustainably and
responsibly.
Planning & Progress Control
- Lead short‑term planning (1–4 week
lookaheads), ensuring engineering activities align with programme needs.
- Track progress through
measurement, quantity reporting, and verification of installed works.
- Maintain accurate daily
diaries, records, and progress data, ensuring issues are captured and
communicated.
- Support identification of
risks, opportunities, constraints, and programme deviations.
- Provide input to planning teams
regarding sequencing, constructability, and engineering logic.
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with
Project Managers, Designers, Supply Chain, Supervisors and Client
Representatives.
- Communicate engineering
requirements clearly to workforce and subcontractors.
- Support positive client
relationships through proactive engagement and transparent communication.
Digital Engineering & Innovation
- Apply digital tools for
surveying, quality management, and programme reporting (BIM, AutoCAD,
Pix4D)
- Ensure as‑built information is captured
digitally to support handover and asset information requirements.
- Identify opportunities for
digital optimisation, automation, or improved data capture.
- Promote innovation and new
technology to drive productivity and reduce risk
