MWH have now been
awarded Projects at Dukinfield, Aston-Under-Lyne, Arnfield, Godley, Hyde and
Wigan and Skelmersdale across the AMP8 Framework Agreement with United
Utilities. We are looking to strengthen our Construction and Project
delivery teams with Section Engineers assigned to a project or section within
our programme of work.
Reporting
to the Senior Site Engineer or Sub-Agent, you will be part of the Site
Engineering team, leading technical delivery, engineering control, and
quality assurance. Ensure activities are planned,
executed, and handed over safely, accurately, and in line with design and
programme requirements. Working within a multidisciplinary delivery team, you
will translate design into buildable solutions, coordinate with planning,
commercial, temporary works, and construction teams, and support the
performance of subcontractors and direct labour. You will also mentor junior
engineers, drive right‑first‑time delivery, and help maintain a culture focused on
safety, collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
Engineering Delivery & Technical Control

for an area of works, ensuring accurate setting‑out, surveying, and dimensional
control.
- Interpret design information,
identify inconsistencies, and raise technical queries with clear, solution‑driven proposals.
- Establish and maintain primary
control points, ensuring protection, verification, and compliance with
project tolerances.
- Oversee as‑built surveys, engineering
checks, and verification activities.
- Provide technical guidance and
coaching to Site Engineers, Graduates and Apprentices, ensuring consistent
engineering standards.
- Collaborate with Temporary
Works teams to ensure temporary works requirements are clearly defined and
safely executed.
Quality & Technical Assurance
- Develop, implement, and
maintain ITPs for all relevant construction activities.
- Drive a right‑first‑time culture by ensuring works
comply with specifications, standards, and project quality processes.
- Maintain and manage digital
quality records, test results, and assurance documentation.
- Identify, raise, and close out
NCRs; support root‑cause
analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Liaise with designers,
technical specialists to ensure robust assurance and sign‑off.
- Support validation and
verification processes, including certification, inspection, and handover
requirements.
- Manage Technical Queries and
coordinate engineering solutions with designers and stakeholders.
- Control and maintain accurate
as-built records and asset data suitable for handover.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Lead the preparation of RAMS
and Safe Systems of Work.
- Support the implementation of
Permits to Work, ensuring compliance with safe systems of work.
- Identify hazards and implement
appropriate control measures, contributing proactively to risk reduction.
- Feed into incident
investigations where required, ensuring learning is captured and shared.
- Promote and lead a positive
safety culture, supporting Zero Harm objectives.
Planning & Progress Control
- Produce short‑term (1–4 week) programmes
aligned with the project programme
- Support lookahead planning,
coordination of interfaces, and sequencing of multiple subcontractor
activities.
- Maintain accurate records of
progress, delays, and change events.
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
- Coordinate effectively with
internal disciplines (commercial, planning, design, temporary works,
SHEQ).
- Engage openly with non-working
supervisors, subcontractors, and the client to ensure aligned
expectations.
- Support collaborative planning
sessions, problem‑solving
meetings, and daily coordination briefings.
- Build strong working
relationships with subcontractors, guiding them through technical and
quality requirements.
- Communicate engineering
decisions clearly and professionally, ensuring understanding across all
levels.
Digital Engineering & Innovation
- Apply digital tools for
surveying, quality management, and programme reporting (BIM, AutoCAD,
Pix4D)
- Capture as‑built information digitally to
support handover and asset information requirements.
- Identify opportunities for
digital optimisation, automation, or improved data capture.
- Promote innovation and new
technology to drive productivity and reduce risk.
